So… Does the canine connoisseur come with the home?

Also, what’s with the flower-broom?

For some reason they were proud enough of that for it to feature prominently in the first four photos.

  1. The HOA dues are only $866/month, count me in.

    That’s a lot of money for an awfully small amount of space. But Miami… need we say more? At least you get some really nice built-ins and I wouldn’t turn down the plasma TV that’s included.

    Just a couple things, though… I wonder how the marble floors respond to the sea air. If my silver jewelry that never came out of a jewelry box in *central* Florida can react with the sea air, what happens when you’re pricey, porous floors are literally on top of the source?

    Of bigger concern is the massive fuel depot just out the back door. In one of the last photos in the “virtual tour” (scroll down to the property details section at Redfin to find the link) you can see an aerial shot of the island. A few googles later and the satellite shows there are no fewer than *seven* huge round oil/gasoline storage tanks just across the street, as well as five smaller ones. If I’m gonna be on top of that big an explosion waiting to happen, I’d just as soon have a lot more space for a lot less money, say in West, Texas, nice built-ins or no nice built-ins.

    As for the decorated broom, Marty, many neo-Pagan denominations use a broom in their hand-fasting (marriage) ceremonies, as do many African-American churches. Then again, it may just be a decorated object. You can buy plain ones to decorate at most hobby supply stores. No matter the purpose, if the dog conveys I promise any broom left out like that is not long for this world.

  3. Here we see a normally exuberant Labrador retriever trained to fall into a hypnotic trance at the sight of these flowers. In fact, he’ll stay there indefinitely until called.

    I figure that’s because after he had destroyed one too many valuable objets d’art, the owners bound bunches of those flowers to brooms and beat him silly with them any time he even thought about doing it again… now he just does what the flowers tell him to, and everybody’s happy, see?

    @anodean: Poor doggy… just bein’ a doggy…

    Your flower focus reminded me, though, that those are orchids. While they’re popular in the tropics, they are also often used for weddings, which may (or may not) go to my “wedding broom” suggestion.

    Either way, doggy probably won’t be getting any Milkbones tonight. :(

  5. The flowers are great. I also like how everything is done in white to the point that it almost seems there’s something wrong with the picture color. They are trying to make the place look nice and cool, which it probably is with AC running). Miami is too hot for my tastes.

    I do like the Marble floors though, and they work great in FL. There are products used to seal tile that only need to be replaced every 5-10 years or so (depending on traffic). Not too pricy even if you have a professional come in and apply it (which I recommend). Marble also helps keep the floor nice and cool.

    @Samme: Thanks for the info on sealing marble. If I ever descend into Hell, er… I mean live in the Miami heat and humidity… I’ll be sure to remember that. ;)

    Happy Fourth of July!!!
