From submitter Emerald63:

CLUNK!!! That was the sound of my jaw dropping at this stunning home that has the “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme” factor in spades! Who knew? A French chateau in… Arizona?!

Indeed.

Whoa. That is some kitchen.

Wait, the bathtub has its own fireplace? This place just keeps getting better and better.

  1. For some gloriously “Who cares?” reason, this place turns a limited color scheme into a magnificent plus, unlike the Death By Beige Boredom of the previous post. Perhaps a few more shades set in subtle patterns amid well detailed and interesting spaces make it work. I’m not really sure why it works, but it does.

I love the distressed flooring and beams combined with crisp whites, pale grays, and assorted but always appropriate light fixture styles. On my 6th or 7th run through the pics I noted relatively little artwork displayed, unlike other high-end listings. But the decor in no way lacks as a result; there is plenty of detailing to entertain the eye.

Not only does the house impress, the listing does, too. It seems photos are by a professional architectural photographer, perhaps even taken for a magazine layout. How cool is it to see pics without overblown HD, that aren’t tilted and that aren’t blurry? My favorite is Pic 30. Both the photo and the space it shows are sublime. As is this inexplicable bit of French countryside in the middle of a U.S. desert this listing highlights.

  2. Humma. Humma. Humma.

I can’t even imagine being the caretaker, because I would want to walk all the way around it, every single day… many times a day… and even though I am so tired right now that the very thought of that level of exertion about makes me want to weep, I sense that it could never be often enough to absorb such a wonderful place.

I want to thank them for showing the pictures, and save them to be my laptop theme.

    Le sigh.

  3. @anodean: So tired first thing in the morning? Anodean, are you still fighting a cold/flue/something else? You seem to have been ill a long time, hun….

  4. @Emerald63: I’m guessing Pacific time-stamps on entries; it’s the only thing that could make me seem like a lark of the morning… and, not to worry. While I am hilariously susceptible to free-range colds and flu, my underlying condition does no more harm than to limit my activities. And as it is itself variable, I’m never sure I’ve caught a bug unless I sneeze. Fortunately, this strikes me as funny… and fortunate indeed, am I. :D

  5. Hadn’t realized you have an underlying condition. The extended discomfort of your recent cold makes more sense now. I’m glad for you that you’re able to see fortune and humor in your situation. Heaven knows those two go a looong way toward making life bearable. :)
