@Emerald63: Pretty much. You always get the white-and-glass back afterward, so it's really no harm, no foul. Fortunately they really like peanuts. They'll pick 'em all out of the mixed nuts and leave the cashews.

See, some of these all-white, glass-dominated environments are inter-dimensional transfer stations: they’re made that way so other “possibilities” can briefly “overwrite” them without causing much dissonance. Things look very different for a moment, someone (or something) drops in, repeat, and they’re gone. It’s usually faster than the eye can follow, though sometimes there’s a short layover for recalibration.

Used to be they were polite about it; keep some cold drinks and noshies around, they’d even leave tips in a jar. Seeing so many of these places come on the market now sorta makes you wonder.

@Denita TwoDragons: I don't find it surprising, D. Sometimes a person wants a complete opposite environment to his usual life, almost as a cleansing experience. My guess is that the all-white is a reflection of the simpler life and serene mind many hippies sought.

My Dad would adore this room. He has always wanted a room that is nothing but crisp, pure white. White walls, white floor, white cabinets, white furnishings. He’d probably put blank canvases on the walls and be happy as heck. It’s not something you’d expect from an oil-under-the-nails blue-collar towboat captain Hippie like Dad, but it’s true.

Ski goggles? No, dahlink, designer sunglasses!

I note this apartment/condo is in San Francisco. Not something I would have guessed without the label, considering the inordinate amount of blue sky and sunshine in the pics. If the local clime is as dreary most of the time as is rumored, the almost all white interior would be a definite pick-me-up, one I could live with (although I’d have to trade in my colored cats for the all white option).

However, I do like the red drawing room in Pic 11. Obviously at least a few of the pics are from communal spaces in this Ritz-Carlton installment. Still, even if it isn’t private, the “red room” is still an elegant sit-down area.
