@Samme: OK, good point. If I were going to use an area rug to tone it down, beige would not be at the top of my list, lol. :D Maybe something like a medium teal, either teal blue or teal green? Anything too light and the mottled carpet would still grab the eye around the edges of the room. Anything too dark and the room would seem even smaller. Hmm... maybe that carpet from the new glowing pet eyes listing? The red one with the beige and cream leaf pattern on it? Yeah... maybe the same colors, but a more subtle pattern.

You could always add a plain beige area rug to tone it down I suppose ;)

@Denita TwoDragons: I dunno... that might actually improve it, if you ask me, lol. I know Samme mentioned liking it better than plain beige but it's just too busy for me. At least with beige you can add some area rugs or really colorful furniture. With a carpet that busy, though, I'd be hard pressed to decorate without making it worse. :\

Looking at the pictures again I realized that even flippers may not be interested in this one. In pic #5 there are two *major* cracks in the concrete foundation/floor. That ain’t something a good clean up and redecorating job is going to fix. And it’s BIG $$$. Oops.

That sunny bathroom flooring made my day. The 3-tone brown shag carpeting is far more interesting than the too common beige-wall-to-wall carpet that is in every apartment and every other house up for sale.

As far as all the dirt in the basement, I am not sure it might have been flood or the result of some hydroponic ‘orchid’ gardening. I do love how the seller didn’t bother to clean, knowing perfectly well the buyer will just rip it all out anyway.

The kitchen appliances are not-quite old enough to be back in style. They have the poor taste to be from the 70’s and right now the in-appliances look more 50’s-60’s.

I like the way the crumpled bits of green paper resolve into a happy, smiling, little snake in the lower left of the first picture. This ingenious effect is obviously meant to demonstrate that although anything could be living in that carpet, some of it might be friendly. C’mon in! The shag is great!

I wonder if I dare look at the rest of the listing? Hmm, hmm, what to do…

Wow, “dreary” doesn’t begin to cover it, eh? At least the listing is honest – it’s definitely meant for flippers. I wonder if that basement apartment flooded? If not, I’m lost on how that much dirt coulda gotten in there. Not that it isn’t an almost preferable alternative to that bathroom floor…….. At least it’s purportedly in a good neighborhood. Best of luck to whomever takes on the project.
