@Emerald63: Thankies! I've been around, just been busy. My son ended up failing 4th Grade so we're having to re-take the whole curriculum over the Summer. I guess he thought he'd get off lightly because he's homeschooled, and found out the hard way that it's quite the opposite instead. Of course, this means half my day is taken up playing The Iron Schoolmarm Of DOOOOOOOOM...

Anywhoozles, I've seen the exterior of this place in person and always wondered if the inside was as bizarre as the outside. Nice to see my suspicions were correct, LOL!

@Denita TwoDragons: Denita! Great to see you here!!

Yeah, I kinda felt a twinge at the Houston thing, too. Sure, it's hot and humid but at least there's usually lots of sunshine. As green as the Pacific Northwest is (and this coming from a girl named Emerald) I don't think I personally could handle all the overcast, let alone the rain. But, hey, everyone has their own favorite climate, right?

One has to wonder just how many Grade B '70s porno movies were shot here. Something - or someone - needs to be shot here, 'cause... Hey! "over the top" doesn't quite seem to cover it.

It has strong potential to be fun, but there are just a few too many "missed it by that much" spots. For me, the mix of Queen Anne, Victorian, Art Deco Lucite furniture, and overstuffed mauve Lazy Boy sofas (next to a canary yellow wall?!) does not work. Oh sure, it's possible to mix styles and have a great eclectic result. I just don't happen to think that's what happened here. It's more like the Museum of Kitsch as provided by many, many trips to flea markets and yard sales.

Just think what they could've done with the kitchen - way cool, hand laid hexagonal black and white floor tile to build on, but they went with... brown speckled marble counters and brown painted cabinets? Not to mention the total non sequitur area rug. These things are everywhere and 9 out of 10 of them have nothing to do with what else is going on in the room.

Bright colors have their place, but, imo, it's not *every* place, especially not burgundy and the aforementioned canary yellow smack on top of each other. Judicious use of bright colors, along with a more consistent design theme, could have made this place amazing. It still could be, depending on who buys it and what they do with it.

But as Marty said, the combo of size and price is definitely out of this world... in a good way.
