As for the dome home – Score! Awesome find!! It is SO nice to see an original era (1974) geodesic still in such beautiful shape. So well maintained and upgraded with really nice materials. The yacht out back is one hell of an “upgrade” too, not something the early hippie dome builders would have ever imagined being part of (along with the almost $1M pricetag).

Question… I’m a bit confused by the upper level of the fire pole; there seems to be a raised platform around the bottom, rather than an open space to use when going down the pole. So is that a safety cover? Covered in carpeting? The one wedge cut out of it doesn’t seem big enough for a person to get through, though. Is that actually the top of the fire pole, then? Or is that an additional, er… “recreational” pole?

Lots of cool things, only a couple that are questionable. A neutral one with an interesting parallel – the way the wall slants out in Pics 8&9 reminds me of being up on the observation level of the St. Louis Arch. A little unnerving there, not so much here. I really like the little eye-height windows around the hot tub, as well as the unique – and very attractive – kitchen decor. But the tiger-striped carpeting in the loft? Not so much. Not combined with the particular wood grain in the paneling and the patterned ceiling. Maybe a long soak in that hot tub while gazing at the river will ease my tiger-stripe induced headache…
