Getting the right balance of impact – not too much or too little decor against that backdrop – would a real challenge. Whoever could do it right would have my admiration.

As for what’s there already, I like the architecture itself, but the woodwork and cabinetry leave me cold. A lot of the really big homes we see feature bleached wood with “goopy” (overdone) carving. It’s just too fussy and in a lot of cases it really detracts from the rest of the setting. But hey… just one more challenge for whomever decorates!
