Oh wow! You could almost picture yourself living there now. I’d still want to get rid of the pink carpet and the tile countertops in the kitchen, but that looks sooo much less daunting than all those patterns.

Hi Kris, nice to meet you! Thanks for the heads up on this house. Yes, it certainly looks different. Now, if only we could see it without the horrid pink carpet! >_<

Looking through the new photos I noticed something that had previously been obscured by the overabundance of floralia. Those long, horizontal windows, further subdivided into horizontal bands, are really at odds with the trusses. It shows up especially in Pics 7, 8, and 18. It almost produces a whiplash effect as the eye is drawn back and forth between the windows' directionality and the perpendicular directionality of the trusses. Also disconcerting is how the heavy trusses seem to "float" above all that glass. One exception is seen in Pic 12. Even though the vertical door edging isn't structural, having it fall directly in line below a truss is simply better visually, as well as psychologically.

But still gorgeous grounds and still lots of potential. :)

@Kris: Nice catch! It looks like the owners pulled it off market and had someone fix the bulk of the design issues. Maybe they read the comments here - they left some of the plaid trim I mentioned in the library / game room. does anyone remember what they were selling it for before? I wonder if the value went up.

This listing was up before when we were house hunting… No we didn’t go look..it was tempting but we didn’t think we could fool anyone in believing we could afford it. Noticed that it is back up again….and it’s had the wall paper removed!

Hi Emerald! I’m here weekly laughing at comments and Marty’s posts. That floral everything is ridiculous! I showed that house to my husband and he laughed letting me know how bad I bitc… About removing wallpaper on the walls in this house. I told him I didn’t want the house, just showing him how nuts some designers are! Lol

Sweet Baby Jesus, call the paramedics - someone has poisoned this house! We can only hope it's not to late to administer the antidote!! And for heaven's sake, look everywhere for male occupants... they're going to need massive infusions of testosterone, eye bleach, beer, and "Hooyah!" OMG... look... every last room with paneling proves the perpetrator(s) first shot up the place, apparently to no avail. When that didn't kill the valiant abode, the fiends used intensive floral poisoning. Oh, the huge vanity! Hang on... mumble mumble Sorry, I'm now informed that those are knotholes in the paneling, not bullet holes. Well, at least there's that. 'Kay, that was fun. :D Back on planet earth... With serious concentration I can almost see this place with normal interiors and It.Is.Awesome. (All the more heinous, then, the attempted domicide.) Gorgeous structure, beautiful grounds, sweet location. What's not to like? Oh, right... I guess if you like redecorating then even that is a good thing.

Ok, the plaid office/library isn’t too bad. I kinda like it.

OTOH, I can’t decide if someone decorated those pink rooms after a little girl’s dollhouse or just really likes Pepto Bismol. Neither answer makes the resulting design particularly pleasant.

All in all, the place actually has potential, but any offer should include a discount for the cost of tearing out the what-were-they-thinking-ness and replacing it.
