Okay, I've looked at this one again. Pictures 4-7 are all one big room, which I hadn't realized before. In the mirror in picture #4, you can see the curtain that appears in picture #7 and, in turn, in #7, you can see the sort of half-onion dome shaped wall light that is above a framed newspaper page that is on the wall in #4. At the very back of the room, in photo #7, you see the artwork that has a black circle with an S shape in it that is between the windows in photo #7.

It seems to be the uppermost floor of the house and they have taken all of the partitions out and are just using curtains and furniture arrangement to separate the spaces & functions. Which makes me think that my initial guess of "privacy screen for a toilet" as a purpose for that weird suspended white curtain is correct. I suppose the ladder does go to the roof.

With all the other weirdness going on, you're probably right about the cot mattress/table combo being a meditation space, Emerald63.

@<a href="#comment-20241" rel="nofollow">MsWildhack</a>: I was thinking the "bed" near the string art was more like a meditation platform. The way it faces the table with the Buddha statue on it has that feel. Though... that's a might big and tall table for a meditation setting and the extra bit at the front looks more like a desk... with nothing on it... Yeah, just one WTF after another.

At first blush this seems like a sophisticated example of eclectica. But... when you start looking closely at details...

Like the edge of the red stairs in Pic 3. That is one sloppy painting job! I thought the white stairs in Pic 2 were marble, but more likely just white paint. Odd choice for an otherwise impressive structure. And what's with the light colored short-board flooring next to the broodingly heavy, dark stair rail? Or the fake pilasters on the left, the ones that stop about a foot above the floor? Sophisticated eclectica is looking more like bohemian college "repurposing" (aka re-using whatever junk you can find).

The bathroom... I thought the curtain hid a stand-alone tub, but looking closer it seems too short length-wise. Also, I thought the ladder stopped at the top of the curtain, a pull-down sort used for infrequent access. But I can see through the curtain towards the bottom; the ladder goes all the way to the floor. There's light above, so perhaps it's to an operable skylight? And what's the wall material behind the sink? Looks like leftover grout after tiles have been pulled out. I do like the dragon image above it. Is that a decal on... glass? Plastic? Hanging? Mounted? There's another in the kitchen window, also very attractive.

Other art is just weirder, like the opened doors of an over-sized Advent calendar on the left of Pic 2 or the giant macrame project waiting to happen in Pic 6. (That's gonna be one hell of a hanging plant cradle!) And what's the thing on the red stair landing in Pic 3? Some sort of in-process wine cork sculpture? Or is that a vertical Stratego game board? Weirdest of all are the wall-hangings in Pic 8. Are those supposed to imply skeletons? And why are they suspended from plastic hanger clips? Creep factor much while you're sleeping? =:O

I want to know what on <i>earth</i> is going on with that curtain in the bathroom?! It seems to only be chest high, so I'm tempted to think it's around the toilet & meant to be some sort of privacy screen (?), but there's a freakin' ladder inside it. And then that bed in the room with the string art -- it seems to be several cot mattresses stacked on top of a piece of plywood. That seems incredibly uncomfortable to me.

<i>Soo</i> much weirdness in this one.

Oh boy. The term "crime scene" comes to mind. There's even a fingerprint on the wall in photo 7. I don't want to know what's behind the curtain in the bathroom much less why there's a skinny metal ladder in it going up to the level above. If the dismembered torso on the wall is any indication, I'll leave it up to the coroner to look back there. Photo 2 shows where somebody or something broke in.

"One-of-a-kind townhouse renovated by a world-renowned artist/architect."

This guy must still be at large. Be on the lookout for a murderer posing as a decorator.
