Oh, I think it's significant in some way -- I mean, it's set apart by a frame which does seem to be 3 dimensional and it's so different from the rest of the piece. But who it is and how that figure relates to the rest of it in the artist's mind -- who the heck knows? (Except, one would hope, the artist.)

@MsWildhack: Not sure what it's about, but I'm betting it's merely a part of the larger painting. A painting within a painting, so to speak. Despite the tan color, the thing that I first thought of, considering we can only see it from a distance, was the photo of Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface, and not just because we... only saw him from a distance. :)

Yay! I love almost everything about this house, but that weird bit of art by the dining room table -- oh, my. It would be a "Say what now?" just about anywhere, but in a house that is otherwise so tasteful, it's really quite jarring. The smaller art-within-the-art seems to have a human figure on it and the only think that makes any sense to me is that the piece is perhaps a memorial to a fallen soldier? I mean, that could be Army tan that is on that person. ?!

@Emerald63: It's been kept up well for a 1960s home. It's all retro now like that old piece of clothing you've had in your closet that finally comes back into style.

I like the closet space, but mostly I like the yard. I don't know how they keep such nice grass under all those trees.

In general a great example of mid-century modern with what look to be tons of original decor pieces. But there are a few bits of... well... shall we say, "Say What Now?"

- Say What Now item No.1: What is that even a painting of? I see a flag, a ribbon, and two hands, along with what looks like a smaller picture over the picture. Huh?
- Say What Now item No.2: Ooh... I dunno about the zig-zag rug next to the diagonal paneling. (Pic 7)
- Say What Now item No.3: Fun little Dutch colonial and not-at-all-mid-century shed out back in Pic 8. Could be the neighbors', though.
- Say What Now item No.4: What's with the Louis XV armchair in Pic 16?
- Say What Now item No.5: That's some crazy wall decor in Pic 21. It looks pretty cool, but I wouldn't want to be the one who has to dust it.

Nice mid-century style match in the kitchen, but considering there are no windows a lighter cabinet color might have been a better choice. (Pic 12, 13)

Finally, not sure which I love more, the window walls or the closet walls. Ahhh... a house with plenty of closet space! SOLD!!
