It seems pretty obvious that there used to be a large garage door taking up most of the front of this “house.” I suspect that maybe the building was originally just someone’s detached garage, and they decided to “finish” it and sell it as a standalone home. Good luck with that.

That headline isn’t meant to be metaphorical. It’s literal. Apparently the seller of this home literally kept their kid in the closet.

Storage room has been repurposed into additional sleeping quarters with IKEA juvenile bed and built-in shelving and drawers.

That’s one way to squeeze everything possible out of a 762 square foot condo.

What’s so special about this home? From the listing description:

It straddles the border, and a small portion of the building in in Canada. Historic building called the “Old Stone Store” was formerly a store and US/Canadian Post Office.

Selling a home in two countries is proving to be a challenge for the couple who owns it. The structure, which has an estimated rebuild cost of about $600,000, is on the market for $109,000. It’s structurally sound but needs lots of work. And then there’s that international border.

“In the day, it was a normal and natural thing,” Brian DuMoulin, who grew up in the house and was accustomed to life literally on the border at a time when no one thought twice about crossing from one country to the other. “Now it stresses everyone out.”

The home itself isn’t much to look at, but the location is certainly unique!

It’s so small – “How small is it?” – you can’t even see it from the street.

No, not the white one. The one lurking behind all the foliage on the left. So much for “curb appeal.”

This condo in Honolulu, Hawaii is just $28,000! According to the listing, it’s in a “great location.”

Just one problem…

Spacious storage room in great location, close to the entry door. Room for all of your lifestyle extras including golf clubs, Holiday decorations, Boogie boards, suitcases, and hobby materials. Lots of space, conveniently located, you’ll wonder how you got along without it!

Eighty-eight square feet. Zero beds. Zero baths. But hey, you can’t beat the price and the “great location.”

Cool, so what does the actual home look like?

…and a few big sacks of cash. In addition to the million dollars you’ll be plunking down to buy the home building itself.

To be fair, it does have a cool, unique look to it, from the outside.

And look, it even comes with a smiling, waving family!

Wait, they’re not included in the price?

Oh well, at least it’s got a sweet lakefront setting.

Can’t say I’ve seen a home with an entrance quite like this one before.

Perhaps there was some sort of odd zoning or permit restrictions?

Apparently the back of the home is level with the alley, so at least they don’t have to drive their car over a crazy bridge.

Over on the island’s rental website you can catch a bunch of videos of the location and the home.

The photos on this post are from the rental site, because the photos on the for sale listing are bland in comparison.

Given this island’s location in the Florida Keys, you’ll have a great view from the deck of the inevitable approaching hurricane.

But who are we kidding, the inside is not the attraction here.

You might think that the best way to get to this home would be by boat. You would be wrong, apparently.

Although the exterior has a unique look, the interiors look like any other normal home.

This is my favorite bit from the listing description:

Yup, an “original bell tower” is definitely on the list of things that I want from a turn of the century home.

That’s definitely not a sentence you’re likely to read in many other home listings.

Whatever its name, it’s tough to argue with the fact that this is a pretty amazing piece of property:

Note that this property is located on San Juan Island in Washington State. And that lake in the photo has its own island. Who doesn’t want to own an island on an island?

I feel like calling this a “1 bedroom property” is a bit of a stretch.

If you were a few hundred feet away you probably wouldn’t even know there was a house there.

Sort of an odd choice to make the central support pillar of the home double as the furnace, though.

There isn’t really anything all that amusing about the photos on this one, but the listing description is hall of fame material:

Who doesn’t need a CRT-TV embedded in the wall of their attic? I have to say, I’m also really digging the bold move to cover literally every square inch of non-window space in this room with what appears to be portions of the exact same tree.

Most of the rest of this $2.25 million home looks fairly normal, but that pool has certainly seen better days.

Other than this somewhat excessive fountain, this listing is a relatively normal $4.5 million Washington DC home.
