<p>With an asking price of 18 million dollars, you&#8217;d expect to be impressed&mdash;even in San Francisco, where <a href="https://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Francisco/460-Anderson-St-94110/home/1993859" title="460 Anderson St., San Francisco, CA 94110">a mediocre 1,100 square-foot row house goes for over a million bucks</a>. Fortunately, this listing does indeed impress.</p>
<p><a href="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_02.jpg" rel="lightbox[4197]"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_02.jpg" alt="3800 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94118" width="1000" height="667" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4212" srcset="https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_02.jpg 1000w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_02-415x276.jpg 415w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_02-470x313.jpg 470w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_02-100x66.jpg 100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></p>
<p>From the description:</p>
<blockquote><p>Originally constructed in 1902 as a stunning replica of the Le Petit Trianon in Versailles France, 3800 Washington Street is San Francisco Landmark 95 and one of the City&#8217;s most grand estates.</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_03.jpg" rel="lightbox[4197]"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_03.jpg" alt="3800 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94118" width="1000" height="667" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4213" srcset="https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_03.jpg 1000w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_03-415x276.jpg 415w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_03-470x313.jpg 470w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_03-100x66.jpg 100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petit_Trianon" title="Wikipedia: Petit Trianon">Wikipedia has to say about the original Petit Trianon</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Upon his accession to the throne in 1774, the 20-year-old Louis XVI gave the château and its surrounding park to his 19-year-old Queen Marie Antoinette for her exclusive use and enjoyment. Marie longed to escape Louis and his court, and he gave her just the place&#8230; Marie Antoinette thought of the Petit Trianon as a &#8216;sacred place&#8217;, so she never had visitors. Swiss guards, gardeners, and maids never followed her there.</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_04.jpg" rel="lightbox[4197]"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_04.jpg" alt="3800 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94118" width="1000" height="667" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4214" srcset="https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_04.jpg 1000w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_04-415x276.jpg 415w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_04-470x313.jpg 470w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_04-100x66.jpg 100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t seem like this version would be much of an &#8220;escape,&#8221; given its placement on just over half an acre smack in the middle of Presidio Heights. Although Presidio Heights is &#8220;San Francisco&#8217;s most exclusive neighborhood&#8221; according to the listing agent, so there is that.</p>
<p><a href="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_05.jpg" rel="lightbox[4197]"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_05.jpg" alt="3800 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94118" width="1000" height="667" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4215" srcset="https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_05.jpg 1000w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_05-415x276.jpg 415w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_05-470x313.jpg 470w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_05-100x66.jpg 100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></p>
<p>Most listings where the listing agent uses terms like &#8220;grand,&#8221; &#8220;soaring,&#8221; &#8220;copious,&#8221; &#8220;stunning,&#8221; and &#8220;irreplaceable&#8221; are barely even worth one such superlative.</p>
<p><a href="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_06.jpg" rel="lightbox[4197]"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_06.jpg" alt="3800 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94118" width="685" height="800" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4216" srcset="https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_06.jpg 685w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_06-415x484.jpg 415w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_06-470x548.jpg 470w, https://looneylisting.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/3800-Washington-St-94118_06-85x100.jpg 85w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 685px) 100vw, 685px" /></a></p>
<p>I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s going out on much of a limb to say that this listing is an exception to that rule.</p>
