Technicolor Bathroom

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bathroom quite as… bright as this.

The kitchen is an interesting piece of work too:

But the bathroom is this home’s primary attraction.

  1. I actually think this house is super cute! The kitchen makes me think of a dainty robin’s egg and bright colours in the bathroom make me think of cleanliness.

  2. Decent interiors, but the “yard” sucks, big time. This looks for all the world like an old motel that’s been converted to apartments. At any rate, the places look pretty small if you look at the spacing of the entry doors on the exterior of the building.

I can understand using bright colors in a region that has lots of cloudy days, but the bathroom is really over the top, especially in a small apartment (sorry Dawn). I could take the colors if the pattern were smaller, or the larger pattern (maybe) if the colors were less eye-piercing, but not the two together. However, it may not be as bad as it looks… If you check out the large slideshow version of the pic at the link, it’s obvious someone made a little boo-boo with their color saturation settings.

In my case, the kitchen reminded me of a Caribbean beach house, which is a good thing given the climate in Edmonds. I’m definitely a sunshine and warm weather kind of girl. And the lighter toned hard wood floors add warmth without heaviness.

I’m curious, though, as to how far apart in time these pics may have been taken. The first two pics, of the living room, feature the same furniture, but the walls behind the TV and the armoire are different colors in the two images. There’s a slight color shift for the wood tones between the two pics, but not enough to account for what looks like a soft beigy-white in #2 and the celery and pale yellow in #1.

Also, not a big fan of tiled ceilings, but it’s not so bad as to make the place unbearable. Nice little place, overall, though I’d personally go mad with cars that close to my front window.

  3. Ok, so I don’t need to turn on the lights in the bathroom…ever. But, how will I be able to open my eyes to pee, shave, etc in the morning? I prefer a bathroom that’s easy on the eyes for my morning routine.

@Emerald63: Someone definitely overdid the HDR in the bathroom. Small rooms with bright colors give me a screaming headache. Of course, the fact that there’s a huge front rolling in even as I speak probably isn’t helping my cranial state, either. :-/
