Time Traveling in Maryland

It should’ve been obvious from the avocado garage door and shutters.

But I wasn’t paying attention and fell into the trap – the Time Machine Trap.

Assorted eras began to fly by, starting with the terrifically tiled 1950s…

segueing into the Kumbayah sentiment of the 1960s…

and landing in the citrus-loving 1970s.

Luckily, the trip ended with a timeless – and simply wonderful – backyard terrace.

I love this place. It makes me sad to know that it doesn’t look that way anymore.

And I want that mural in photo #22.

@MsWildhack: I’m partial to the chicken banner in Pic 16, myself. Looks like it might be batik.

  3. Photo 8 – Urn collection. I wonder who is being displayed there.

Here may be a few more time periods:

Photo 10 – I’m having trouble placing this, but I’m going to guess 1930s cabinets with 1970’s table and chairs. The integral solid-surface sink is new, though.

Photo 12 – Except for the fact that the chair reclines, I’m guessing 1940s. The wardrobe in the next photo of the same room is 1800s.

Photo 17 – I had something like that sofa in my bedroom back in the 1980s.

Photo 20 – Looks 1960s(?), except for that Miley Sirus wanabe on the wall.

@Frodo: Unless the kitchen cabinets are re-treads, they’re from 1965 or later. That’s when the house was built. My problem with the table and chairs is pairing Captain’s chairs with a faux-Chippendale table. Rather like using potato chips to dip your caviar. Of course in this case it’s pretty cheap, nasty caviar, but still.

The wardrobe from Pic 13 looks earlier than the 1800s. I did a bit of googling and found something in sort of the same style (a little fancier). It’s French, from the 1730s. (http://www.antiques.com/classified/Antique-Furniture/Antique-Armoires—Wardrobes/Antique-Important-French-Regence-Walnut-Lyonnaise-Armoire—-item-iD–CF4562895 …click on the thumbnail) Considering they want well over $100K for it, I’m thinking the one in our listing is a reproduction. But yeah… definitely in keeping with the time-travel theme.
